ADVICE FOR STAYING SAFE IN
THE DATING GAME
THE IDEA STILL AMAZES ME THAT WE CALL IT THE DATING GAME WHEN IT IS
PERHAPS ONE OF THE MOST CHALLENGING ACTIVITIES THAT WE WILL EVER SPEND OUR
TIME DOING. We expect ourselves to make an almost instant wise decision on
a total stranger. What is the feeling we get about them. Comfortable? Do we
get on well together? Are they the one for
us?
For you to arrive at the twilight of
your years and take a look back upon a life filled with love and friendships must
be one of the most satisfying and fulfilling experiences we can have. To find
somebody to love and respect and who in return loves and respects us must be
everybody's ultimate wish.
But still we deal with it as a game of chance and on occasions an
especially dangerous game of chance. We sit in a singles bar, preferably with a
close friend for support, and wait for the everyday, corny pick-up by just about
every letch. The “singles bar”, the “happy hour” and “clubbing” are the adult
dating scenes we are all familiar with. Often the image of these types of venues
can be enjoyable and fun at times. Commonly viewed with hope and high expectations.
The actual reality though can be so different and so disappointing. These places
can be nerve racking and an incredibly ineffectual way of meeting anyone
decent.
This out of date technique of dating has
fast been superseded by the new web-based dating services. Almost one half of all
adults declare they have joined a dating agency at some time. Memberships have sky
rocketed in recent years. Why? Because it’s so much easier than sitting about in a
club all night.

From the security and convenience of your home you can
explore a broad range of potential candidates in a calm non intimidating
atmosphere. Just the ‘looking’ can certainly be thrilling in its
self.
But subsequently we still want to demonstrate
the same degree of care that we exhibited in the singles bar. Get together as
much information about the person as you can in order to make an informed
selection. Reliable? Trustable? Honest? Married? Are they seriously looking
for a romantic relationship or just a one night stand? Do you know anyone who could
vouch for them? Do we both know the same people? And so the questioning
should go on and on.
Just as the
net offers the answer to the singles bar difficulty with online dating, it also
offers help to the challenges that online dating itself gives us. Particularly, how
to check what they have told you is accurate. In the singles bar you are at times
wanting to make quick decisions. At least with on-line dating you have the time
prior to a date to authenticate what they tell you.
A n d so go
back on the internet and run a background check to authenticate they are who
they say they are. Make sure there is not
anything in their past that you will need to know of. Oh, like they are
married with six kids or just got out of jail again for multiple manslaughter
which they just happen to forget to tell you. Let us not forget Jasmine
Fiore? Stay safe!
